Tandoori Style Halibut

From Williams-Sonoma Weeknight 

INGREDIENTS:

Plain yogurt, 1 cup

Lemon juice from 1/2 lemon

Ginger 2 Tbsp grated

Yellow onion, 1 small, finely chopped

Garlic 2 cloves, minced

(NOTE can use 1 TBP garam masala instead of the 5 following spices)

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp ground turmeric

1/2 tsp ground coriander

1/2 tsp ground allspice

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

salt

Halibut fillets 4, about 1.5 pounds total, skin removed

Steamed white rice for serving


DIRECTIONS:

Prepare the yogurt marinade - stir the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger, onion, garlic and 5 spices and 1/2 tsp salt.  Add the halibut to the marinade and turn to coat.  Reserve some of the marinade.

Cook the fish - broil, turning once until opaque throughout, 8-10 minutes.  Spoon the rice onto 4 plates and top with the halibut.
